Food blogger stabbed to death by rival influencer during livestream in Nepal
As influencers and bloggers on social media often go to great lengths to create content that will get them views, competitions between them frequently emerge. But for this popular Chinese street food blogger, his rivalry with another influencer has led to his demise.
In a report by Asia Wire carried by CNN-News18, 29-year-old Chinese national Gan Soujiong, who is known online as "Fatty Goes To Africa," was livestreaming in the streets of Indra Chowk in Nepal together with some of his friends.
Their happy moment was suddenly interrupted when a series of "distressed, high-pitched screams" were heard. It was then followed by a violent shaking of camera before the screen went dark.
A clip later emerged showing a disoriented Gan sitting in the middle of the street while another person, identified to be his supposed rival Feng Zhengyung, was hurling curse words at him in Chinese.
Gan was visibly covered in his own blood that was profusely coming out of his chest and stomach, a result of the brutal stab wounds that Feng purportedly committed on him using a knife. Gan was shown trying to stop the bleeding on his stomach and beckoning witnesses of the attack to call for assistance.
Paramedics then arrived to take him to the National Trauma Centre, but it was too late for him as he eventually succumbed to his injuries.
One of his companions, Li Chusan, had also been involved in the violent attack and was hospitalized in critical condition after suffering stab wounds on his stomach.
According to the New York Post, local police put Feng behind bars following the incident. Preliminary reports detail that there was bad blood between the two influencers due to multiple unspecified disputes and unresolved debts.
