Nesthy Petecio and Carlo Paalam will be the country’s flagbearers

Petecio and Paalam will serve as the Philippines' flagbearers during the event.

Both boxers achieved silver in their respective divisions during the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

With their significant responsibility as flagbearers, Petecio and Paalam will be wearing a Francis Libiran-designed barong bearing the stunning details of Philippine culture.

The attire features embroidered sun rays and Pintados-inspired warrior patterns on its collar, while its bodice is adorned with a detachable silk organdy sling that carries the colors of the Philippine flag with another Pintados-inspired warrior pattern on top.

The so-called “Sinag” barong is made out of piña-jusi fabric.
