Japan Airlines flight canceled due to drunk captain
Japan Airlines canceled a flight from Dallas to Tokyo after a captain got drunk and engaged in disruptive behavior.
According to Japanese media outlets like Japan Today, the airline company said it had to cancel Flight 11 so the team can check the 49-year-old's physical and mental state.
They weren't able to find a substitute for him for the 11:05 a.m. departure, so they resorted to transferring its 157 passengers to other flights instead.
As stated in the report, the captain along with his crew had dinner together, which was followed by an alcohol-filled party at a US hotel's lounge and then his room at two in the morning.
An employee asked them to tone it down but the captain ended up making noise and shouting. His speech and behavior made the hotel call authorities, who asked him not to cause any more problems at the establishment.
