eBay bans sale of Jeffrey Dahmer-inspired items amid pre-Halloween surge

It's almost Halloween, in which several people dress up as characters from pop culture.

One of the go-to candidates at the moment, apparently, is Jeffrey Dahmer—the serial killer, cannibal, and rapist who's the subject of Netflix's viral miniseries DAHMER - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, co-written and directed by Ryan Murphy of American Horror Story fame.

E-commerce website eBay already saw a surge in purchases of Dahmer-style aviator glasses, a blonde wig matching his hairdo, and tops similar to what he wore.

But alas, eBay banned the sale of such items paying homage to the "Milwaukee Cannibal" due to violations of its company policy.

This was confirmed by one of eBay's representatives who told New Musical Express that the platform's moderators scoured for these Dahmer-like items and took them down right after.

eBay's website states that sellers cannot sell items that are "closely associated with or that benefit violent felons, their acts, or crime scenes within the past 100 years.

Dahmer, portrayed by Evan Peters in the miniseries, notoriously raped, murdered, and dismembered 17 men and boys—while also eating some of them—between 1978 and 1991.

He committed his crimes in his very own residence on Apartment 213 at 924 North 25th Street in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It's where he also kept his victims' bodies.

He was arrested in July 1991, and in the following year, was handed 16 life sentences for his crimes. On Nov. 28, 1994, Dahmer met his end after a fellow inmate beat him to death.

Family members of Dahmer's victims have criticized the miniseries, saying it's "retraumatizing" them.
