The University of the Philippines, the host school for the 87th season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), has unveiled the new logo and theme which carries “strength in unity, to heart.”

This year’s logo is dubbed “Hands In Huddle,” showing eight vibrant hands placed in a circular manner, which are also stylized as human figures, representing the eight diverse UAAP universities “working as one.”

UP is placed at the top being the host school, while other schools were arranged in clockwise order according to their hosting sequence for upcoming UAAP seasons.

“The clenched fist in the UP Fighting Maroons team logo has transformed into an open hand that reaches out to every one in a spirit of cooperation and partnership. It says the best way to be strong, productive, and relevant is to encourage participation from everyone, be it as a league, as a community, or as a nation,” said Dolriech “Bo” Perasol, director of the UP Office for Athletics and Sports Development (UP OASD).

“When we work as a team, in and out of sports, we can reach great heights and accomplish much,” he added.

Beside it is the season’s theme, “Stronger, Better, Together,” which also bears a vibrant image play of “87” in the word “Stronger.”

“Hopefully, it will inspire us all to take the message expressed by the season logo, which is strength in unity, to heart,” Perasol said.

Season 87 will begin on Sept. 7 with Men’s and Women’s Basketball tournaments, which will also be held with the traditional opening ceremony.

Next year’s host will be the University of Santo Tomas (UST).
