Ateneo, UP lead top performing PH law schools in 2024 Bar exams

Ateneo de Manila University became the top-performing Philippine law school at the 2024 Bar Examinations, followed by University of the Philippines.

ADMU achieved the highest percentage based on the Supreme Court's classification system divided into two categories: first-time takers and overall performance including repeaters. With over 100 candidates, the institution posted a score of 96.36% and 96.02%, respectively.

Of the first-time examinees, 159 of them passed out of 165, while 169 passed out of 176 in the overall performance category.

In both classifications, University of the Philippines, San Beda University, University of Santo Tomas - Manila, and University of San Carlos in Cebu took the succeeding spots, respectively.

The schools are ranked as follows in the overall category:

Law schools with more than 100 candidates

  1. Ateneo de Manila University (96.02% passing rate with 169 out of 176 passers)
  2. University of the Philippines (90.51% passing rate with 229 out of 253 passers)
  3. San Beda University (89.73% passing rate with 131 out of 146 passers)
  4. University of Santo Tomas - Manila (80.35% passing rate with 139 out of 173 passers)
  5. University of San Carlos (79.05% passing rate with 117 out of 148 passers)

Law schools with 51-100 candidates

  1. Ateneo de Davao University (94.55% passing rate with 52 out of 55 passers)
  2. Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (83.58% passing rate with 56 out of 67 passers)
  3. Polytechnic University of the Philippines (75.95% passing rate with 60 out of 79 passers)
  4. Saint Louis University (74.60% passing rate with 47 out of 63 passers)
  5. University of Cebu (74.32% passing rate with 55 out of 74 passers)

Law schools with 11-50 examinees:

  1. West Visayas State University (92.31% passing rate with 12 out of 13 passers)
  2. University of Makati (90.91% passing rate with 20 out of 22 passers)
  3. University of Asia and the Pacific (87.50% passing rate with 21 out of 24 passers)
  4. Angeles University Foundation School of Law (84.38% passing rate with 27 out of 32 passers)
  5. Notre Dame of Marbel University (78.57% passing rate with 11 out of 14 passers)

Law schools with 1-10 examinees:

  1. North Eastern Mindanao State University (100% passing rate with 4 out 4 passers), Saint Columban College (100% passing rate with 5 out 5 passers), and Our Lady of Mercy College (100% passing rate with 1 out 1 passers)
  2. Mariano Marcos State University (90% passing rate with 9 out of 10 passers)
  3. Batangas State University (71.43% passing rate with 5 out of 7 passers)
  4. Manila Adventist College (44.44% passing rate with 4 out 9 passers)
  5. Tomas Claudio College (40% passing rate with 4 out 10 passers) and St. Mary's College of Tagum, Inc. (40% passing rate with 2 out 5 passers)

A total of 3,962 takers passed the 2024 Bar exams, which had a passing rate of 37.84%, according to Associate Justice Mario Lopez. Kyle Christian Tutor of the University of the Philippines emerged as the topnotcher with a grade of 85.7700%.
