Alert Level 1, the most lenient status, set to take effect in Metro Manila, 38 other areas starting March
Metro Manila and 38 other areas will be placed under Alert Level 1 from March 1 to 15, acting palace spokesman Karlo Nograles announced on Sunday, Feb. 27.
Under Alert Level 1, all establishments may operate at full capacity with respect to minimum public health standards. Intrazonal and interzonal travel will also be allowed regardless of age and comorbidities.
COVID-19 cases in the country have been seeing a decline this February. The Department of Health on Feb. 1 recorded 9,493 new infections, the first time that new daily cases are at the thousands following a surge after the holiday season.
On Sunday, the country logged 1,038 new COVID-19 cases—the ninth straight day that new cases are at the 1,000th mark. It's also the month's lowest tally after Feb. 22's 1,019 fresh infections.
The capital has been under Alert Level 2 for the rest of February. Under the measure, establishments may cater up to half capacity for indoors for fully vaccinated adults and even unvaccinated minors. Outdoor settings are allowed at 70% capacity.
It also allows face-to-face classes, dine-in services, religious gatherings, and personal care services, among others.
