Expect heavy rains

According to PAGASA's Weather Advisory, heavy to intense rains (100-200 mm) are possible over Occidental Mindoro, northern Palawan including Calamian, Cuyo, and Cagayancillo Islands, Zambales, and Bataan on Sept. 3.

Moderate to heavy rains (50-100 mm) are possible over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, the rest of Palawan, Romblon, Western Visayas, Tarlac, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, and Bulacan.

By Sept. 4, heavy to intense rains (100-200 mm) are possible over Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and northern Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo Islands.

Moderate to heavy rains (50-100 mm) are also possible over the Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Tarlac, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, and Bulacan, the rest of Palawan, Romblon, and Antique.

"Under these conditions, flooding and rain-induced landslides are likely, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps and in areas with significant antecedent rainfall," PAGASA highlighted.

The weather disturbance may continue to move generally northwestward until Sept. 6, with the concentration of its associated weather and the southwest monsoon also moving gradually northward.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected to happen in areas in Luzon, Western Visayas, and the Northern Island Region. The rest of the archipelago may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with possibilities of localized rain showers or thunderstorms.

Suspensions

Due to the downpour, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has decided to put off the number coding scheme in Metro Manila.

"In view of the inclement weather brought about by typhoon Enteng and southwest monsoon, the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program or Number Coding is suspended today, September 2," the MMDA said in its advisory.

Malacanang, through the Office of Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, has also announced the cancellation of classes in public and private schools at all levels in Metro Manila.

Government offices in the National Capital Region are also suspended.
