Silvanas among TasteAtlas' best cookies in the world

Silvanas is among the best cookies in the world, according to an aggregated food guide.

On TasteAtlas' 50 Best Cookies in the World list for June, silvanas placed 25th with a score of 4 out of 5.

In its citation, TasteAtlas noted that silvanas is the snack version of sans rival, another Filipino dessert.

"These frozen cookie sandwiches are made with two cashew-meringue wafers that are held together with a thick layer of buttercream and are generously coated in cashew crumbs," it said.

"Although plain versions are the most common, silvanas occasionally come in various flavors such as chocolate, strawberry, mocha, or mango," it continued, adding that the popular cookies have to be refrigerated and are best served well-chilled or frozen.

Topping the list was Scotland's petticoat tails, whose name and shape were believed to be taken from the 16th century fabric and are often dusted with icing sugar and enjoyed with tea.

TasteAtlas has recognized Philippine cuisine several times.

Last May, it named lechon, lechon kawali, Bicol express, inihaw na liempo, adobong baboy, and sisig as among the best pork dishes worldwide.

In June 2022, it placed the Philippines in the 19th spot of its 50 best cuisines.
