A woman who claimed that her male colleague slapped her to wake her up from her nap and made her unable to work for a year is demanding 40,000 yuan (over P300,000) in compensation.

South China Morning Post reported that the Chinese woman, surnamed Zheng, said that she was taking a nap on a table during her work break as a security guard at a subway station in Hangzhou when the incident happened in June 2023.

She claimed that Lu slapped her on the back, which felt like an "electric shock" as it left her arms and neck feeling "numb."

Zheng said she started feeling unwell after what happened. It persisted for a month, which pushed her to seek medical assistance.

The SCMP reported that doctors found she "had a protruding spinal disc and advised her to rest for two weeks."

The pain, however, still stayed with her for a year, so she wasn't able to go to work during the entire period.

Zheng is now asking for 40,000 yuan from Lu to pay for her medical expenses and other financial needs. Since the latter has blocked her on mobile and Internet platforms, it prompted her to tell the media about her case.

According to the media outlet, Lu shut down the possibility of a "serious injury" from his "slight slapping." He has yet to pay her, as of writing.
