Joe Biden now has over 72 million votes—a first in American history
US presidential candidate Joe Biden now has more votes than any American presidential candidate in history, with over 73,481,482 ballots cast as of press time.
Biden has now surpassed former president Barack Obama's 2008 record of more than 69.4 million votes. To add, President Donald Trump, too, will be able to be the second-highest vote total with over 68 million votes as of today.

The race to secure the needed 270 electoral votes in order to win the presidential elections is still undecided. Biden, however, maintains a lead over incumbent president Donald Trump, who has falsely claimed fraud and has lawyered up to stop the count in a number of states where his narrow lead grew thin as mail-in and absentee votes continue to pour in.
According to the latest AP report, Biden is now leading in the two crucial battleground states of Wisconsin and Michigan, and is inching to overtake Trump in Pennsylvania and Georgia.
With Trump’s looming court cases and with still a number of votes yet to be counted, it remains unclear when the winner will be determined.
