Filipino children's choir Young Voices of the Philippines (YVP) won in all choir categories during the 12th Golden Gate International Choral Festival, held on July 9-15 2023 in San Fransisco.

“4 of 4. It’s a sweep! Young Voices of the Philippines (wins) four 1st prizes at the 12th Golden Gate International Choral Festival. Cantamus in Animo Grato. We sing in gratitude. +Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,” the chorale group announced on their Facebook page.

The group won First Prize for the Historical Competition, Folk Compeition, Gospel/Spiritual Competition, and Contemporary Competition for the Youth Choir category during their first-ever U.S. tour.

The YVP was joined 13 other choral groups from the United States, Australia, Canada, Estonia, Georgia and Lithuania for the 12th edition of the triennial festival.

Several of the pieces the choir performed on their US tour were Cantate Domino and Dies Irae by Prof. Jude B. Roldan, as well as Orde-E by Dr. Maria Theresa Vizconde-Roldan.

The 12th Golden Gate International Choral Festival was the third choral event attended by YVP in the United States. The group also performed at the University of Maryland and made their debut at the Carnegie Hall in New York City a few days prior. YVP is reportedly the first Filipino children’s choir to set stage at Carnegie Hall.

YVP has been performing at various events to raise funds for their US tour, stating that they do not wish to leave any child behind for this “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

"We believe that every voice has the power to touch souls and bridge cultures. Our journey to the United States is a testament to the unwavering passion and commitment of our young talents," Maria Theresa Vizconde-Roldan, conductor of the VYP said.

The children’s choir was founded in 2020, with the YVP being part of the Treble Choir Association of the Philippines.
