Kat Alano writes cryptic post after dismissal of rape, acts of lasciviousness charges against Vhong Navarro

Warning: This article contains mentions of rape.

Kat Alano wrote a cryptic post following the Supreme Court’s decision to junk the rape and acts of lasciviousness charges that model Deniece Cornejo filed against TV host Vhong Navarro.

“So you gotta have frieeeends…” she wrote. “Friends in all the right places, even when you’re wrong.”

This comes after the SC Third Division ordered the dismissal of the criminal cases filed against Navarro due to lack of improbable cause. As stated in the 43-page ruling, the Court of Appeals said Cornejo’s accusations were "not trivial, minor, or inconsequential."

"Indeed, no amount of skillful or artful deportment, manner of speaking or portrayal in a subsequent court proceeding could supplant Cornejo's manifestly inconsistent and highly deficient, doubtful, and unclear accounts of her supposed harrowing experience in the hands of Navarro," it read.

Cornejo filed a rape case against Navarro in 2014, which allegedly took place on Jan. 22 in her condominium unit. She also claimed that the TV personality raped her a few days prior.

The Taguig court found Cornejo, businessman Cedric Lee, and Jed Fernandez guilty of grave coercion in 2018 after Navarro countered that he was assaulted and detained on the same night to admit the accusations. The CA, however, reversed the previous 2018 and 2020 resolutions dismissing Cornejo's claims and directed the case back to the City Prosecutor of Taguig City in June 2020.

The It’s Showtime host got detained at the Manila NBI Detention Center after he surrendered on Sept. 19 over the warrant from the resurfaced rape case. He was later transferred to the Taguig City Jail Male Dormitory.

In December, the Taguig court allowed him to post bail at P1 million for his provisional liberty. Alano again shared a cryptic post when the news broke on social media.

"I feel sick. This is so wrong. It’s all wrong. Bahala na kayo Pilipinas. You deserve what you asked for. Sana hindi mangyari sa inyo to. It’s a nightmare that keeps going. Evil wins. I can’t stop crying. I feel broken and defeated. Ayaw ko na talaga,” she tweeted.

Alano claimed she was drugged and raped by a celebrity whose name "rhymes with ‘wrong'" in 2014.
