Real-life Barbie doll with a passion for service: Meet Miss World 2021 Karolina Bielawska
Regal, alluring, and Margot Robbie’s long-lost twin—these words describe Miss World 2021 Karolina Bielawska when you lay your eyes on her for the first time.
The 23-year-old Polish beauty queen stood out among 96 other candidates who vied for the highly-coveted Miss World 2021 crown. Toni-Ann Singh of Jamaica passed on the crown to Biewlaska after a two-year reign.
Shree Saini of the United States was the first runner-up and Beauty with a Purpose Ambassador awardee, while Olivia Yacé of Cote D’Ivoire was the second-runner up and Top Model Competition winner.
Karolina is the second polish beauty queen to clinch the Miss World crown after Aneta Kreglicka in 1989.
Prior to being crowned, Karolina was asked the final question: “What is the most important discovery that has yet to be discovered?” With a smile, she gave her winning answer which earned the applause of pageant fans at the Coca-Cola Music Hall in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
“The most important discovery? I believe that this is no one but everything will learn something new. And we all have unique experiences. And all of us can learn something about ourselves and be more authentic and personal. What I’ve discovered is that it costs us so little to enrich the lives of others,” Karolina said.
“And this is the cause that we can all afford. And believe me, it’s worth its price. So, if you would like to discover something new, just try to learn to be much more in empathy, compassion, gratitude, because we can all do it. As I mentioned before, we can all be great because everyone can serve and this discovery seems so simple, but it's actually life will be cute.”
Get to know about the newly-crowned queen Karolina Biewlaska, and how she emulates Miss World’s slogan, “Beauty With a Purpose.”
A queen who lives for adventure
Karolina has always been an all-around queen who lives for adventure. She’s currently studying for her Master’s Degree in Management, with plans of pursuing a Ph.D. She started her modeling career at the age of 14 after winning second place at the Elite Model Look Competition.
The statuesque beauty queen, who describes herself as an “adrenaline seeker,” enjoys sports and high-adrenaline activities like ziplines, scuba diving, rollercoasters, windsurfing, wild rafting, and hiking, among others.
But that’s not all. Karolina also revealed in her Miss World blog that she hopes to be a motivational speaker someday. With her winning Q&A, she’s on her way to reaching her goal to inspire others.
While it seems that Karolina’s pre-pageant life is on hold, she told the Miss World Organization that she’s excited to “get to work.”
“When I heard my name I was shocked, I still can’t believe it. I am honored to wear the Miss World crown and can’t wait to get to work. I will remember this amazing chapter in Puerto Rico for the rest of my life,” Karolina said.
A woman who dedicates her life to helping others
With or without the Miss World crown, Karolina has always been a beautiful woman with the purpose to help the less fortunate. Her Beauty with a Purpose project “Zupa Na Pietrynie” provides hot meals, food packs, legal advice, COVID-19 essentials, and medical support to families living in Lodz, Poland.
Karolina’s project also includes the life-changing effort of ensuring that families get vaccinated against COVID-19. Fortunately, “Zupa Na Pietrynie” became the stepping stone for the families to receive their vaccines.
“I wanted to help those people because I thought they need it, in fact, they helped me and changed me from the inside out. While sharing what we have with others, we can see that those little ‘miracles’ are all around the corner and we make the world a better place for everyone including ourselves,” Karolina wrote on her Miss World blog.
The life-changing project also built the first social bathroom for families who were affected by the homelessness crisis in Lodz
“Lack of hygiene was causing not only health problems but also troubles with human interactions and lead to social exclusion. I believe that this is a huge step forward towards their physical and mental health, as well as it brings back the confidence while building relationships with the community,” Karolina said.
Margot Robbie’s long-lost twin
Karolina’s statuesque proportions, golden blonde hair, and wide-set eyes remind pageant fans of the Australian actress Margot Robbie who’s best known for the role of Harley Quinn.
The beauty queen admits that it’s “amazing” that she’s often described as Robbie’s twin and hopes to star in a movie with her someday.
“I heard many times that I look like a Margot Robbie, so I would choose [to star with her in a movie] to see if it's true. It would [also] be amazing to meet and learn from this wonderful actress,” Karolina said.
Despite being praised for her beauty, Karolina believes that building one's own character is more important. “I put an effort to live according to my values, grow and be good to myself and those around me. I do care about my outside appearance but I work more on my character, attitude, and behavior.”
The beauty queen also believes that “setting my mind right, caring about my health,” and expressing kindness to others should also be a priority.
A passionate advocate against violence towards women
Karolina is also passionate about fighting against violence towards women. As an ambassador of the social campaign Born Against Violence, she believes that women have the right to protect themselves.
“Every woman has the right to protect her values, no matter where she comes from. Every woman has the right to immunity. We live in a beautiful world, but not everyone remembers that it can be dangerous too,” Karolina wrote in her Miss World blog.
One out of three women suffer physical and sexual violence in their lifetime, as per the World Health Organization. With this in mind, Karolina hopes that arming Polish women with basic knowledge against violence can save their lives.
