LIST: Miss Universe Philippines and other beauty pageants to watch out for this 2023
The pageant season is on, and this year will see a lot of events on the local and international level.
Pinoys are generally considered as "the best pageant fans in the world," and for them to be able to support and cheer for their favorite delegates, they must be aware of the upcoming competitions happening this year.
Ahead, we listed dates that pageant organizers have announced so far.
May 13: Miss Universe Philippines 2023
Miss Universe Philippines, which determines who represents the country in the international pageant in El Salvador by the end of the year, will hold its preliminary competition on May 10, 1 p.m., at the Grand Ballroom of Okada Manila. The candidates will don their best swimsuits and long evening gowns, which will help the judges determine who will move on to the next round.
The coronation night will be held on May 13, 6 p.m., at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
There will be a livestream of the said events on the YouTube channel of Empire Philippines.
May 28: Binibining Pilipinas 2023
The 59th edition of Binibining Pilipinas will be held on May 28 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
It will also be aired live on A2Z, Kapamilya Online Live, and Metro Channel. There will also be a livestream on iWantTFC and the Binibining Pilipinas YouTube channel.
Forty candidates will compete for two titles to represent the country in the Miss International and Miss Globe pageants.
There will be no successors to the Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental and Binibining Pilipinas Grand International titles as Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. lost the franchises for them.
May (TBA): Miss World 2023
Miss World, the oldest international pageant, will be held this May, but the official date has yet to be announced.
It will take place in the United Arab Emirates, the first time that the Miss World finals will be in the Middle East.
Gwendolyn Fourniol of Negros Occidental will represent the Philippines.
June 23: Miss Global 2023
The tenth Miss Global will be held at the Hanoi Opera House International World in Hanoi, Vietnam this June 23. Its reigning queen, Shane Tormes of the Philippines, will be crowning her successor during this event.
July 14: 14th Miss Supranational
This year's Miss Supranational pageant will be held on July 14, 2023 at the Strzelecki Park Amphitheater, Nowy Sącz, Małopolska.
The Philippines has yet to name their representative.
Oct. 25: Miss Grand International 2023
For the second consecutive year, the Miss Grand International pageant will be held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Isabella Novaes Menin of Brazil will crown her successor on Oct. 25, 2023.
Oct. 26: 61st Miss International
Miss International 2022 Jasmin Selberg of Germany will crown her successor on Oct. 26, 2023 at the Yoyogi Gymnasium No. 2, Shibuya, Tokyo.
The Philippines' representative will be named during the Binibining Pilipinas 2023 grand coronation night.
TBA: Miss Grand Philippines
The date for the very first Miss Grand Philippines competition has yet to be announced as the application for the pageant is still ongoing. Interested beauty queens may submit their application forms still until May 31, 2023.
The Miss Grand pageant would be the first time that the competition would be under ALV Pageant Circle. Previously, the franchise was owned by Binibining Pilipinas Charities (BBPCI) until they withdrew in November 2022.
TBA: Miss Earth 2023
The 23rd Miss Earth pageant will be held this year at the Gem Center in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam where Mina Sue Choi of South Korea will crown her successor.
Philippine bet Yllana Marie Aduana is vying for the country's fifth Miss Earth crown at this year's pageant.
TBA: Miss InterContinental 2023
Mutya ng Pilipinas 2022 winner Iona Gibbs is set to represent the country in Egypt at the 51st edition of Miss InterContinental. The date has yet to be announced.
