A Taiwanese man has died after his girlfriend allegedly set him on fire for infidelity. However, new information has come to light revealing the man's prior involvement in a fatal hit-and-run accident just a few months ago.

Citing Taiwan local media, Koreaboo reported that a 41-year-old man surnamed Li requested his 34-year-old girlfriend, Xie, to purchase gasoline for his motorcycle. According to media reports, it was to create an opportunity for him to bring his secret lover home.

Upon Xie’s return, the couple quarreled after she found out about her boyfriend’s illicit affair. According to reports, Li taunted Xie repeatedly to douse him with the gasoline she bought earlier.

Security cameras on their street reportedly captured footage of Xie complying with Li's request to buy gasoline. However, the video allegedly shows her dousing him with the fuel.

Soaked in gasoline, Li went inside the house closely followed by Xie behind. Inside, Xie then lit him up using a lighter.

Li died five days after 68 percent of his body suffered from second to third-degree burns.

In the month leading up to his death, Li was also implicated in a separate tragedy. On March 12, he was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run accident that claimed the life of 29-year-old motorcyclist Chen, who was waiting at a red light.

After the road accident, Li was seen casually smoking, and eyewitnesses disclosed that he showcased no remorse for his victim.

He was arrested after he ditched the investigators twice after giving them his word of meeting them.

Xie was sent to prison on the afternoon of April 10 with charges of attempted murder and public danger.
