Celebrity makeup artist Fanny Serrano passes away at 74

Rest in peace, Fanny Serrano.

Makeup artist and stylist to the stars, Fanny Serrano, has passed away. He was 74 years old. 

Serrano’s ward Maktin Miranda confirmed his death in a Facebook post, saying he “peacefully joined our Creator” at around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10.

“The whole family [is] comforted by the fact that a lot of you are celebrating his life and paying tributes [to] how he has touched people’s lives. Interment details to follow, as we, the family, are still fixing all the necessary documents needed,” Miranda added. 

Calling Serrano her “papa,” Miranda thanked the makeup artist and stylist.

"Thank you to this Man who nurtured, cared and loved me, the one I called Papa, this Man who taught me the true meaning of life," wrote Miranda.

“Seeing everyone's love as they pay tribute to the icon is heartwarming. I am forever grateful and thankful to you my Papa.”

Miranda said she’s proud to be Serrano’s “daughter,” adding that she wants to remain his daughter if she can bring back time. 

“Curtains down, it's your final bow, but your legacy lives on forever. No more pain Papa, you are now in the hands of God,” Miranda added.

Fashion designer Dave Ocampo also expressed his love for Serrano in a Facebook post on Wednesday, May 11. 

“Thank you for your words and the words of Lord Jesus you share with us. You will be missed by your Designers Circle Philippines Family,” Ocampo said. 

The Designers Circle Philippines also paid tribute to the departed fashion and beauty icon.

“A sorrowful moment for the entire fashion and beauty industry. We lost a pioneer, a genius, and a creative force. But for us, Designers Circle Philippines, we lost our one and only ‘TF,’ Tita Fanny Serrano, our mentor, inspiration, and friend,” Designers Circle Philippines’ post read. 

To recall, Serrano went through a stroke in March 2021, according to the singer and actress Sharon Cuneta.

“It’s me again. I’m still not feeling so well but it’s a private thing supposedly, but I can’t. There’s no way around it. I would really like to ask for your prayers because Tita Fanny Serrano had a massive stroke today,” Cuneta said on her Instagram post. 

Serrano is known as one of the most prominent makeup gurus and stylists to the stars. Some of his most popular clients include Cuneta, Celia Rodriguez, and Lorna Tolentino, among others.
