Man who funded anti-child trafficking film ‘Sound of Freedom’ arrested for child kidnapping
A man who helped bring a film against child trafficking to theaters is now facing charges in relation to child kidnapping.
According to a report by E! News, Missouri court records stated that police arrested Fabian Marta following an incident that allegedly took place in late July.
“He was released on his own recognizance and the next hearing is set for Aug. 28,” E! reported, adding that not much information has been shared about the case.
Marta’s lawyer Scott Rosenblum told the media outlet that the charges are “unfounded” and that his client “had nothing to do with custodial kidnapping.”
“He was essentially a landlord,” he added without getting into much detail.
Marta helped fund the 2023 movie Sound of Freedom. According to its distributor Angel Studios, the “powerful film” that’s based on a true story revolves around then-Homeland Security Agent Tim Ballard and his battle against human trafficking. “His relentless pursuit of justice exposes the dark underbelly of this global crime, leaving an indelible impact on the fight for freedom,” it said.
