A family was arrested after authorities found the human head that belongs to the headless body found earlier in a love hotel in Sapporo, Japan.

According to a report by The Japan Times, 59-year-old doctor Osamu Tamura and his 29-year-old daughter Runa Tamura have been arrested on Monday, July 24 over “suspicion of decapitating a body.”

The following day, authorities found a severed head in their home which belonged to the headless man that was discovered in the bathroom of a love hotel. Runa’s 60-year-old psychiatrist mother was also arrested on the same day.

Detailing the case, the police suspect that the daughter, Runa—who they also suspect accompanied the 62-year-old victim named Hitoshi Ura in the short-stay hotel—was the one who committed the murder, and she was assisted by her parents before and after the alleged crime.

The police say that her father Osamu dropped and picked up Runa at the hotel, while her mother Hiroko conspired to store the severed head in their home.

According to the investigators, there were no traces of a third person entering the room in the hotel and they believe that the crime was done by Runa alone. However, the suspects’ motive for the crime is yet to be discovered.

They are also currently investigating the nature of the relationship between Runa and Hitoshi.

Hitoshi’s headless body was discovered by a hotel employee on July 2 who was supposed to check why he did not check out at his scheduled time.

"All of his belongings, including his ID, phone, and clothes, were taken from the room and police are yet to find them. They suspect Runa Tamura took his belongings," the report said.

In the autopsy, his death was due to a hemorrhagic shock. They also said that they plan to conduct an autopsy following the discovery of his severed head.
