YG Entertainment closes Manila audition early due to high volume of applicants, adds additional audition date in April

Everybody wants to be an idol it seems.

On Friday, March 10, South Korean music label YG Entertainment announced that they will be closing the applications early due to the high number of applicants. The application period lasted for only three days and was supposed to end on April 8.  

“This is the inaugural audition for YG in Manila, and we would like to meet all interested applicants. Unfortunately, due to an exceedingly high number of applicants, we must close the pre-application submission period earlier than expected,” they wrote in a Facebook post. 

The agency has added an additional date for auditions in April, but will no longer accept walk-in applicants. 

“We will no longer be accepting day of walk-ins for the audition. We kindly ask for your understanding as this decision was made for your safety and to ensure a smooth audition process,” they continued. 

The audition dates will be held on April 15 and 16 at Zero Studio in Quezon City, applicants can expect to receive their scheduled time via email. 

The audition is open to anyone born between 2004 and 2012 or ages 11 to 19.  

Applicants were required to apply to only one category—they can do either appearance, vocal, or rap without music, or a one-minute dance.   

Accepted applicants will get to work with K-pop idols and actors managed by YG Entertainment such as BLACKPINK, Treasure, Winner, and Akdong Musician, among others. It also manages renowned Korean actors Lee Sung Kyung, who starred in the drama series Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo, as well as Jang Ki-yong who starred in dramas like My Roommate Is a Gumiho, among others.
