Slapshock frontman Jamir Garcia passes away
Slapshock lead vocalist Jamir Garcia has been reported dead at the age of 42.
A police report indicated he was found dead at his house in Quezon City. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Garcia blazed the trail by being one of the leading lights of the nu metal or also known as “kupaw” music that started to grow popular during the ‘90s. Slapshock, along with bands like Greyhoundz, Queso, and Chicosci, reinterpreted for the Pinoy audience the foreign musical influences of bands like Korn, Deftones, and Limp Bizkit among others.
Slapshock's official Twitter page has turned black following news of Garcia's demise.
