Chinese man seeks divorce after finding out he is not the real father of wife's three children: 'None of them was my own child.'
A man from China is seeking to divorce his wife of 16 years after tests show that he is not the father of the three children they've been raising.
Per South China Morning Post (SCMP), the 45-year-old man identified as "Chen" has been working away from home to support their family. Chen first took notice of his wife's infidelity when she began dodging his calls.
Since he was too far away to confront his wife, Chen tracked down his wife via her phone GPS, and found out that she had been checking in a hotel with another man.
With the infidelity in mind, Chen took a paternity test that eventually showed he is not the biological father of their youngest daughter. To keep their family of four intact, he initially decided to forgive his wife.
Unfortunately, more paternity tests showed that Chen was not the real father of their two other daughters as well.
Since then, the wife has gone on to evade contact with her husband, prompting him to turn to the media to track down his estranged partner.
"I’ve been married for 16 years and none of the three are my children," Chen shared in an interview with China Jiangxi Radio and TV Station. "None of them was my own child."
Shortly after the news, his wife had resurfaced, but she remains persistent that they stay together and for Chen to "empathize" with the situation.
"I don’t think I cheated on him. Is biological paternity really important? Couples who are sterile adopt kids all the time," she reportedly said during a phone interview.
"Please try to empathize with me. The three children called him ‘dad’ for many years, but now he says the daughters are not his own. What is the difference between him and an animal?"
The wife has since been the target of criticism from Chinese social media netizens everywhere. Meanwhile, Chen is currently seeking the finalization of their divorce.
