After Liza Soberano expressed her concern over struggling Filipino workers amid the current COVID-19 surge, it is now Janine Gutierrez's turn to take to Twitter to express her dismay over the Philippine government’s response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

In an tweet on Tuesday, March 23, the actress said: “Napaka-walang malasakit naman.

A Twitter user replied to Janine’s comment, saying that the Philippines isn’t the only country enduring difficulties because of the pandemic.

To this, Janine replied: “Masaya ako para sayo na kaya mong magtiis.

The tweet seems to be in reaction to the new quarantine restrictions imposed on Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal amid the increase of COVID-19 cases recently.

On Monday, March 22, the Department of Health recorded 8,019 COVID-19 infections—a record high for the Philippines since the pandemic started. There are currently over 80,900 active COVID-19 cases in the country.

The surge in COVID-19 cases has prompted the government to impose a travel bubble within NCR and its neighboring provinces. Residents of these areas are discouraged from non-essential travel, but most businesses are allowed to remain open.
