DFA confirms 2 Filipinos killed in Israel-Hamas war
Two Filipinos have been killed amid the attacks between Israel and Hamas, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs.
DFA secretary Enrique Manalo confirmed the deaths of two Pinoys in the war on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Oct. 11.
“The Philippines condemns the killing of two Filipino nationals and all other acts of terrorism and violence as a result of Hamas actions against Israel,” he tweeted.
Manalo said the country is ready to work with other nations “towards a long-lasting resolution to the conflict, in accordance with pertinent UN Security Council Resolutions and the general principles of international law.”
“The Philippine government will continue to provide all possible assistance to distressed Filipinos nationals in Israel and Palestine,” he said.
The ongoing gun battles began on Oct. 7, when Hamas militants carried out a surprise attack by air, sea, and land on Israel “in a dramatic escalation of the Israel-Palestinian conflict,” according to AFP.
Thousands of people have since been killed on both sides, as of this writing.
