ICYMI, here are the SIM registration requirements
Still haven't registered your SIM cards yet? You have until April 26, 2023 to do so.
ICYMI, the SIM Registration Act was signed into law last December 27, 2022. Under this, mobile and prepaid broadband users must register their SIM cards, otherwise, it will be deactivated.
Telco companies such as Globe, Smart, DITO, and GOMO have since released guidelines for their users on how they can register their SIM cards. Others provided more information, such as additional registering sites.
Here's what you need to know so you can finally beat the deadline.
Visit the SIM registration websites
SIM registration is doable online via the websites of telecommunications companies Globe and Smart. DITO, meanwhile, requires its existing subscribers to register in the DITO APP. New subscribers can access it through an SMS link after they've inserted their SIMs.
The websites have a step-by-step guide for users as they fill out the forms.
Other ways you can register
Smart, which also manages TNT and Sun, subscribers may visit their stores nationwide anytime if they need help registering their SIM cards.
Aside from that, Smart users may also register via mobile *888 and hotline (02) 8888-1111.
Similarly, Globe will be putting up assisted registration sites by February 2023 where users who need assistance, i.e. those who have limited internet access or are using a basic mobile phones, can visit.
For Globe Postpaid subscribers, they may now confirm their SIM cards by texting “SIMREG” to 8080.

Provide the necessary personal information
Users will have to provide the following when they register their SIMs via the telco websites:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- Sex
- Address
- Type of ID presented, as well as the ID number
- Valid government ID with photo
- Selfie
The valid government ID with photo and selfie should have a maximum file size of 4MB. You may compress your photos via the website Tiny PNG.
Before anything else, they'd also have to enter a one-time PIN or OTP sent to the phone numbers they're about to register.
Know your IDs
Since SIM registration requires providing truthful information, it goes without saying that a valid government-issued ID is a must.
For minors, their SIMs must be registered under the name of their parent or legal guardian.
Here are the accepted IDs for SIM registration:
- Passport;
- Philippine identification;
- Social Security System ID;
- Government Service Insurance System e-card;
- Driver’s License;
- National Bureau of Investigation clearance;
- Police clearance;
- Firearms’ license to own and possess ID;
- Professional Regulation Commission ID;
- Integrated Bar of the Philippines ID;
- Overseas Workers Welfare Administration ID;
- Bureau of Internal Revenue ID;
- Voter’s ID;
- Senior Citizen’s card;
- Unified Multi-purpose ID;
- Person with Disabilities Card;
- Other valid government-issued ID with photo
Foreign nationals must also register
SIM registration is not only for Filipinos but also for foreign nationals visiting as tourists. They may use their registered SIM for 30 days only, and will become automatically deactivated afterward. They shall provide the following:
- Passport
- Proof of address in the Philippines, including hotel booking or affidavit/letter from the owner of the residence
- Return ticket to own country
Those with other types of visas, however, won't be subjected to automatic deactivation and may register as usual. They have to provide the following:
- Passport
- Proof of address in the Philippines, including hotel booking or affidavit/letter from the owner of the residence
- Other pertinent documents, like:
- Alien employment permit
- Alien certificate or registration
- School registration and ID for students
- Department of Justice-approved admission document for persons of concern
