Billionaire tech CEO's 16-year-old child missing, considered a runaway by authorities
Authorities in California are searching for the missing teenage child of the former chief executive officer of the communications platform Slack.
NBC News reported that Steward Butterfield’s child, Mint, is considered a runaway who was last seen in the coastal community of Bolinas on Sunday, April 21, and was reported missing on Monday, April 22.
The search is ongoing for Mint, who is only 16 years old.
The sheriff’s office said Mint has brown and red curly hair, is about 5 feet fall, weighs about 100 pounds (45.3 kg), and has pierced eyebrows.
Mint was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, flannel pajama pants, and black boots. The teen may have a gray suitcase, the sheriff’s office added.
Authorities, citing an official familiar with the case, said Mint is believed to be in the Tenderloin neighborhood in downtown San Francisco, which is 48.2 km (30 miles) away from Bolinas.
Steward and Mint are reportedly estranged, but officials are concerned about publicizing the family connection, the source said.
San Francisco police are also helping search for Mint. The sheriff’s office has also reached out to the child’s mother.
