‘Nakikiramay po kami’: ABS-CBN's TV Patrol anchors offer condolences over Mike Enriquez’s death
ABS-CBN anchors expressed their sympathy to the Kapuso family following the death of veteran newscaster Mike Enriquez.
Noli De Castro, Bernadette Sembrano, and Henry Omaga-Diaz reported about Enriquez’s death in the Aug. 29 segment of TV Patrol.
“Nakikiramay po ang TV Patrol at ABS-CBN sa pamilya ni Mike Enriquez,” De Castro said.
“Isa nanamang malungkot na balita sa isang haligi ng pamamahayag sa ating bansa,” Omaga-Diaz added.
“Condolence po sa lahat ng mga Kapuso,” Sembrano said.
De Castro looked back on the times he crossed paths with Enriquez on live coverages. “Nakikiramay po kami. Matagal-tagal din kaming naging magkaibigan ni Mike. Lagi kaming nagkakasabay sa mga live, basta may malalaking live, nagkakasabay pa kami.”
Prior to ABS-CBN's failed bid for a new franchise in 2020, TV Patrol was a longtime competitor of 24 Oras, which Enriquez joined in 2004.
GMA Network confirmed Enriquez’s death in a statement provided to 24 Oras on Aug. 29. He was 71.
The veteran news anchor went on medical leave in 2018 to get treatment for a kidney disease. He had a heart bypass surgery in September of the same year.
Enriquez underwent a kidney transplant in December 2021.
