Britney Spears quits Instagram—for now at least
She's not running nor hiding, but she's definitely taking a break. Britney Spears quits Instagram to "celebrate" her engagement.
Earlier this week, fans noticed that the pop star's account was nowhere to be found. As it turns out, she deactivated it temporarily and "is taking a break, as many celebrities do."
"It was her decision, and nothing else should be read into it," tells the source to PEOPLE. "She is in a great place, legally and personally."
Spears, who is very active on Instagram, tweeted, "Don't worry folks … just taking a little break from social media to celebrate my engagement ?? !!!! I'll be back soon ??✨"

This comes after her recent engagement to her boyfriend Sam Asghari.
Asghari proposed to Spears last Sept. 12, days after Jamie Spears filed a petition to end the controversial conservatorship.
"I can't f---ing believe it," she said in a post announcing her engagement.
"Words can't even say how shocked I am ? … geez although the asshole was way overdue ? !!!! It was definitely worth the wait," Spears wrote in another.
"Yes world … that beautiful f—ing man in that picture is MINE ? !!!" she added of Asghari. "I'm so blessed it's insane ??? !!!!"
Spears expressed her desire to remarry during her conservatorship hearing last June 23.
"I don't feel like I can live a full life," she said. "I want to be able to get married and have a baby."
