Sandro Muhlach files cyber libel complaint against 3 anonymous accounts on X
Trigger warning: This article contains mentions of rape and sexual assault.
Sandro Muhlach filed a cyber libel case against three anonymous accounts on X at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)'s Cybercrime Division.
According to a report by GMA's 24 Oras, the complaint stemmed from the actor being targeted by over a hundred defamatory posts on the platform about the alleged sexual assault he experienced from GMA independent contractors Jojo Nones and Richard “Dode” Cruz.
His grandfather, Alexander Muhlach, requested the public to respect Sandro's privacy as he has been "struggling with significant challenges, such as trauma, anxiety, insomnia, and loss of appetite."
"This has taken a toll on his physical and mental well-being. We kindly ask everyone to respect Sandro's privacy during this time," he said.
"The online harassment and bullying he has been subjected to are only worsening his condition. Sandro needs our compassion and support as he works towards recovery. We appreciate your understanding and respect for his journey towards healing," he added.
Sandro previously filed a rape complaint against Cruz and Nones before the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Aug. 19. His lawyer, Atty. Czarina Raz, said that the complaint indicates rape through sexual assault and several acts of lasciviousness.
During the Senate hearings on the case, the actor recounted being allegedly pressured to ingest drugs and assaulted while he was in a weakened state—a claim that Nones repeatedly denied.
Senators, however, believe there is "strong evidence" against Cruz and Nones.
The two contractors have submitted counter-affidavits and appeared before the NBI with their legal counsel. The DOJ is now reviewing the case.
