LIST: Promos and freebies you can avail to experience FIBA World Cup 2023
As the opening day of the premier basketball tournament FIBA World Cup 2023 draws near, fans are scrambling to find tickets to the games.
Starting August 25 and until September 10, the matches will be held in three locations in the country: the Philippine Arena, Smart-Araneta Coliseum, and SM Mall of Asia Arena.
In pursuit of the most coveted Naismith Trophy, brands and organizations have come up with promos and offers so that fans can elevate their FIBA World Cup 2023 experience.
50% discount for students and teachers
The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is inviting students and teachers to support our country's basketball team in the said tournament with a 50% discount on tickets.
This discount will also be applicable for the opening day and selected matches scheduled from Aug. 26 to Sept. 2, covering various seating categories, including premium upper box, regular upper box, and general admission sections.
CHED said students and teachers must present their school ID and PRC ID, respectively, at any TicketNet or SM Ticket outlet.
Free tickets
Jollibee joins the entire nation in rallying behind the home team and uplifting the Filipino spirit with free tickets. Pinoy basketball fans can get theirs by simply ordering through the Jollibee app from August 15 to 24.
You just need to go to the "Promos" Tab followed by the “FREE FIBA Opening Game Ticket” App Coupon in the said app and place an order with a minimum single-receipt purchase amount of P1,500.00 to get one Opening Game Ticket. The coupon will be applied upon checkout.
An email confirmation will be sent with instructions on how to claim the free ticket.
You can redeem your tickets on or before August 24 at the nearest participating TicketNet booth by presenting your valid physical Jollibee receipt and email confirmation.
As an added treat, the fast-food chain will be giving away free Cheesy Yumburger to all attendees of the FIBA 2023 Opening game.
The coupon will be distributed on Opening Game Day on Aug. 25, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the entrance of the Philippine Arena. Only one coupon will be distributed per person.
Attendees can redeem it by presenting both the Jollibee coupon and FIBA Opening Game ticket (whether physical or e-ticket) at the Jollibee-on-Wheels booth on Opening Game Day or at any Jollibee store within Mega Manila and Bulacan from August 25-31, 2023.
Tour Packages
If you're in the Philippines and are here to watch the games, the Department of Tourism has come up with tour packages for international fans and Filipinos.
There are a number of carefully crafted trip packages in renowned tourist locations including those in Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, La Union and Pampanga, Cebu, Bohol, Iloilo and Bacolod, Boracay, Palawan, and Davao.
The event will kick off on Aug. 25 at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan. Angola vs. Italy will be at 4 p.m., while Dominican Republic vs. Philippines will be at 8 p.m.
There will also be games that day at SM MOA Arena between Mexico and Montenegro at 4:45 p.m., and Egypt and Lithuania at 8:30 p.m.
The finals game is set for Sept. 10 at SM MOA Arena.
Malacañang earlier announced the suspension of classes and work in public schools, as well as government offices, in Metro Manila and Bulacan on Aug. 25 in line the opening ceremonies of the prestigious basketball tournament.
