Taylor Swift fan quits job to attend all of her 'Eras Tour' concerts
How much of a fan are you? For this die-hard fan, she left her employed life behind just to attend all of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concerts.
In an interview with CNN, 28-year-old Kana Ishiyone from Fukuoka, Japan shared that she had been a fan of the Grammy Award-winning singer since 2009.
Not only did she make the effort to learn English to understand the lyrics of Swift's acclaimed songs, but she also decided to quit her job so she could move freely during the ongoing tour.
"I’m taking a two-year break for going to her concerts. I quit my job when she announced this Eras Tour," Ishiyone told the news outlet.
Explaining her reason for this, she said it was due to not getting enough Taylor Swift during the artist's previous tour to promote her sixth studio album Reputation.
"Last time I went to six shows on the Reputation Tour, but yeah, you know, it wasn't enough," Ishiyone said.
Now, the Japanese superfan had bought tickets to all four nights of the Tokyo leg of Swift’s tour, which is held at the Tokyo Dome.
But her concert craze doesn't end there as Ishiyone said that she is planning to go to eight more cities in four countries to enjoy 50 shows.
The Taylor Swift fever is truly here to stay, and according to analyst Richard Clarke, this may be due to how the tour was perfectly timed after the COVID-19 pandemic.
"What we’ve seen with the Taylor Swift tour is something that we’ve not really seen before. It’s been a very well-timed post-Covid event, a sort of cultural event, everyone seems to want to go to this," Clarke told CNN.
"It’s been such a popular tour that people have found that their home markets are often sold out, and therefore have begun to travel to other markets to try and find tickets. I’m sure that’s going to be the case with Asia as well," he added.
Similarly, a Filipino Coldplay fan managed to get a total of 17 tickets to shows in seven countries for Coldplay’s "Music of the Spheres World Tour."
Neil Enore told PhilSTAR L!fe, that he is just trying to "support the band while they are still on tour."
"We never know when's the next one once the tour ends or personally if I'm still capable of doing tours in the future if there's any shift with life priorities. Sulitin na habang puwede pa," he said.
Unfortunately for fans in the Philippines, neither Swift nor her team have confirmed that the Eras Tour will be coming to the country.
However, her concert film was shown in local cinemas back in October last year and will be coming to Disney+ this March. It earned more than $261.6 million, beating Michael Jackson's This is It, which grossed $261.2 million at the global box office.
