LOOK: Heart Evangelista, KaladKaren, and other showbiz personalities at Marcos’ SONA 2023
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. delivered his second State of the Nation Address at the Batasang Pambasa on Monday, July 24, with some showbiz personalities present at the affair.
Showcasing “Bagong Pilipinas” as his governance brand, the President reported on the Philippines' current state and shared his administration's plans for the country in the coming years.
This year’s SONA broadcast was handled by the Palace’s in-house coverage team Radio Television Malacanang (RTVM).
Other than politicians, there were also familiar faces in the entertainment industry who graced the event. Here are some that caught our eye.
Heart Evangelista
GMA-7 star Heart Evangelista accompanied her husband, Senator Chiz Escudero to the Batasang Pambansa in a white Filipiniana embellished with crystals and pearls, designed by Michael Leyva.
KaladKaren
Actress, TV host, and LGBTQIA+ advocate KaladKaren dressed up in a vibrant purple number by Martin Bautista. She gave a look at her traditional Filipino wear on Instagram before the event with the caption: "SONA ready."
Angelica Alita Revilla
Former beauty queen Angelica Revilla attended this year's SONA in a Michael Leyva creation: a draped Filipiniana gown with floral applique details. She accompanied her husband, actor-turned-politician Jolo Revilla to the affair.
Karla Estrada
Actress and TV host Karla Estrada was also among the attendees at SONA 2023. She was spotted in the audience in a bright pink Filipiniana. Karla sang the Philippine national anthem during the opening of the 19th Congress at the House of Representatives in July 2022.
Arjo Atayde
Also seen in the crowd was Arjo Atayde, who wore a patterned Barong Tagalog at the event. Aside from being an actor, he also serves as the representative of Quezon City's First District.
Lara Maigue
Classical singer Lara Maigue sang the national anthem at the opening of the second SONA wearing a beige Filipiniana terno. Her rendition of Mozart's Queen of the Night went viral last month, garnering 21 million views on Instagram.
Alfred Vargas
Quezon City representative Alfred Vargas wore an embroidered barong by Francis Libiran, with a Philippine flag pin on his collar. “Here we go! First post-pandemic State of the Nation Address,” he wrote in an Instagram post before the ceremony.
