Mummified man found on toilet during search for missing woman
Police found a mummified body of a man while they were looking for a missing 95-year-old woman inside a home.
CBS News reported that the gruesome discovery was made on the toilet of a Union City, California residence during a search for a woman named Nadine Parker, who was later found to have been living in a senior house in Oakland for two years now.
Per the media outlet, Sgt. Brandon Hayward of the Union City Police Department said the remains may have been there for weeks or months, and that the body was not wrapped in cloth though it already began to dry up due to the temperature in the enclosed space.
The neighbors were surprised to know about the incident. According to neighbor Bruce Chan, the backyard and front yard of the said home are filled with garbage. "It was piled up to 10 feet high or so with trash,” he said. “We always wondered about it because the place always seemed really creepy."
Authorities said they found another man alive—one of Parker’s two sons—inside the same home. He is, however, in bad condition, with mold growing out of his ear.
CBS News stated that the mummified body in the bathroom may belong to his brother, who is believed to have passed away due to natural causes.
Investigation is still ongoing, but no signs of foul play have been found so far.
