The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has assured travelers that they will take “speedy resolution” on the recent bed bugs incident in in Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s (NAIA) terminals 2 and 3.

MIAA issued the statement after social media users shared on the Facebook group DIY Travel Philippines their unfortunate experiences of being bitten by bed bugs at the two airport stations.

The posters shared that they got the bites on steel seats near the Terminal 3 departure area and on rattan chairs in Terminal 2.

On Wednesday, Feb. 28, MIAA released a statement saying that the agency had taken the necessary steps to address the reports from social media users being bitten by bed bugs.

“MIAA General Manager Eric Ines immediately ordered the Terminal Managers to look into the matter and provide him with a report within 24 hours stating the circumstances surrounding the incidents and their recommended corrective actions to put an end to this problem,” the statement read.

“Directive was also given for the conduct of comprehensive facility inspections and enhanced sanitation measures,” it continued. They also confirmed that the terminals received complaints and that MIAA’s medical team had provided needed assistance for the victims.

It added that the specified seats are now permanently pulled out to conduct disinfections.

“The MIAA apologizes to the victims and assures them that a speedy resolution to this can be expected,” they added.
