Metro Manila's new curfew hours 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. start on May 1

Starting May 1, Saturday, Metro Manila will implement eased curfew hours, from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced today.

The new curfew hours was based on the MMDA Resolution No. 21-09 Series of 2021 signed by all Metro Manila mayors.

In its announcement on its Facebook page, MMDA chairman Benhu Abalos said local governments in NCR will release their own executive orders or ordinances about the new curfew hours and its implementation in their cities.

The new curfew hours were based on the Department of Health data that shows a 5 percent drop in reported COVID-19 cases in NCR and the provinces of Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite and Laguna in the first half of April 2021.

As for the quarantine status of Metro Manila, Abalos said the Metro Manila Council has deferred the decision to President Duterte, who is expected to announce the next quarantine status in his address today.

“The MMC just recommends to the IATF. Hence, it is within the purview of President Rodrigo Duterte to decide on the next NCR status,” Abalos noted.
