With a surge in museums, art fairs, and galleries, the local art scene in the Philippines is more vibrant than ever. Soon, a world-class art and culture space is set to elevate this industry.

Dubbed the “epitome of new,” the Ayala Foundation recently announced the construction of the Contemporary Art Center in the bustling Circuit Makati, just near the Samsung Performing Arts Center and the PowerMac Black Box Theatre.

The art space aims to entertain visitors of all ages by featuring various forms of contemporary art—from visual arts to immersive installations, digital art, and interactive experiences that aim to stimulate their critical and creative thinking.

It will have a 2,500-square-meter gallery space and 400 education spaces which will also be a home for performances, concerts, and films.

“Envision a space that serves as an experimental platform for artists to explore innovative concepts in response to the ever-changing world around us. A place that fosters curiosity and creativity, igniting a passion for the new and the now. This center will be a space that not only showcases contemporary art but also nurtures the creative spirit within us all,” said Ayala Foundation Chairman Fernando Zobel de Ayala in the statement.

Designed by Thai architect Kulapat Yantrasast and his firm, WHY Architecture, as well as local architect Ed Calma and his firm Lor Calma & Partners, the art building is putting a spotlight on sustainability and future-forward design in consideration of the environment.

Situated along the Pasig River, the upcoming art center also aligns with the Philippine government’s vision for the 25-kilometer Pasig River esplanade.

“This contemporary art museum completes Circuit Makati’s vision as a center for arts and culture. It is an iconic addition to the estate that not only anchors the arts alongside the performing arts theater but also uplifts the entire community by inspiring creativity and innovation,” shared Ayala Land President and CEO, Meean Dy.
