Utah CEO and his teenage daughter die after bulldozer falls on top of their car
The boss of a Utah-based table and chair manufacturer and his teenage daughter were killed in a car crash after a bulldozer fell on top of their car.
PEOPLE Magazine reported that Lifetime Products' president and chief executive officer Richard David Hendrickson, 57, and Sally, 16, died in the collision at Ogden Canyon.
According to Utah Highway Patrol, the incident happened on July 6 at around 12:49 p.m. as "a tow truck carrying a mini bulldozer traveling eastbound” in the opposite direction of Hendrickson and his family negotiated "a right-hand curve" while passing them, ejecting the bulldozer onto their vehicle that had been towing a boat.
Hendrickson and Sally were pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement posted on its website, Lifetime Products said his wife and two of their other children sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Another daughter was away overseas.
The firm said Hendrickson was "more than a company leader," as he was a "visionary and a friend to many within our business and the wider community."
"His ability to connect with people bound all of his other talents together in a very special way," the company said.
Its founder, Barry Mower, said Hendrickson was one of his most trusted and cherished friends and will be sorely missed.
"Lifetime will not be the same without him," Mower said.
For his part, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox on X said Hendrickson was an "incredible leader."
"We are heartbroken by his tragic passing with his daughter Sally," Cox said. "We mourn with the surviving members of his family and pray they will find comfort and healing."
