Nas Daily loses half a million followers over Whang-Od Academy issue

Published Aug 08, 2021 1:40 pm

After sparking controversy for a masterclass featuring renowned tattoo artist Whang-Od, vlogger Nas Daily's follower count on Facebook has begun to drop by the hundreds of thousands.

Before the issue, Nuseir Yassin's Facebook page counted 20,992,940 followers. The content creator began to lose followers when Whang-Od's grandniece Grace Palicas called the Nas Academy course on the Kalinga tattoo legend a scam. The online learning platform took down the tattoo course following the issue.

Responding to the issue, Nas posted a 22-second video showing the 104-year-old tattoo artist affixing her thumbprint on a contract with her niece Estella Palangdao present. By August 5, 275,000 users have unfollowed Nas Daily.

On Aug. 6, the Palestinian-Israeli vlogger was once again in hot water with his Filipino audience as Cacao Project founder Louise Mabulo spoke up about her ill experience with him. Mabulo mentioned that the vlogger mocked farmers and only cared about making clickable content. Yassin responded to the issue, saying there was no cacao farm or story to be told, which Mabulo countered by saying The Cacao Project and its farmers are doing well.

As of Aug. 8, the Nas Daily Facebook page has lost 597,426 followers according to social media analytics site SocialBlade.
