Karen Davila has spoken up about a recent interview with Senator Imee Marcos, which blew up on social media over a joke the president-elect's sister made.

After welcoming Davila to ANC Headstart, Marcos joked about how the journalist was still in the country despite Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. winning the elections.

"It's nice to see you're still here in the Philippines. Akala ko magma-migrate ka 'pag nanalo ang Marcos," the senator said. It's unclear when the broadcast journalist ever said she would migrate if Marcos won the elections.

Davila replied with a laugh and said, "Hoping always for the best for the country."

The interview was shared and talked about online, with Marcos Jr.'s supporters saying the senator "burned" Davila.

As the video of the interview spread online, the broadcast journalist set the record straight regarding the exchange.

"Napikon po ba ako? Hindi po," she wrote on Facebook, adding that Marcos had also extended an apology to her via text after the show.

An hour later, Davila shared another post, which said: "In victory, resist the temptation to gloat. Graciousness is a class act."
