LIST: Politicians who took their oath of office concurrently with Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s inauguration

Following the footsteps of Marcos Jr., Migz Zubiri also took his oath as a senator of the incoming 19th Congress at the National Museum. However, he chose a more humble spot, in front of the Jose Rizal painting of renowned Cebuano painter Martino Abellana. This is because the late national hero has always been a role model to him.

"Bilang isang lingkod-bayan, gabay ko po palagi si Dr. Jose Rizal, para sa kanyang tapang, talino, at pagmamahal sa bayan," he wrote in his Facebook post.

Supreme Court Chief Justice  Alexander Gesmundo also officiated his oath taking, with fellow senators Vicente Sotto III, Win Gatchalian, JV Ejercito, Ronald Dela Rosa, Sonny Angara, and Raffy Tulfo witnessing it.

Vico Sotto, Pasig City mayor

Reelected Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto had his oath taking for his second term as the highest official in the city at the Ynares Sports Complex. It was administered by the city's regional trial court executive, Judge Danilo Cruz. His parents, Connie Reyes and Eat Bulaga pioneer host Vic Sotto, witnessed the event. 

Sotto thanked his supporters in his speech and said that they had achieved many things during his first term in office.

"Galak na galak po ako ngayon dahil lahat ng nagawa natin ng three years ay marami na. Hindi lang sa pagbabago sa ating mga programa kundi ang mga proyekto ng Covid response, edukasyon ekonomiya. Hindi man ito perpekto pero ito ay napagtatagumpayan naman," he said.

Sandro Marcos, Ilocos Norte First District Representative

Like father, like son, as they say. Marcos Jr.'s oldest son, Sandro, was sworn to office as first district representative of Ilocos Norte, along with some other officials in the Ilocos region. This was after witnessing the inauguration of his father.

The oath-taking was held at the Malacañang Palace in the afternoon.

Jeannie Sandoval, Malabon City mayor

Hours before Marcos Jr.'s inauguration took place, Jeannie Sandoval took her oath of office as the first female mayor of Malabon City. It was administered by Sen. Cynthia Villar at the San Bartolome Parish.

Sandoval held the position of vice mayor for six years before she went up against former mayor Antolin "Lenlen" Oreta in 2019 and lost. In her speech, she called for the city's residents to become more united.

"Kayo ay aking inaanyayahan na magkapit-bisig upang makamit ang inaasam na pag-ahon," she said.

Lani Cayetano, Taguig City mayor

Senator-elect Alan Cayetano's wife, Lani, also had her oath-taking today as mayor of Taguig City at Sen. Renato “Compañero” Cayetano Memorial Science and Technology High School. It was held along with the other officials of the city.

Presiding Judge Antonio Olivete of the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 267 is the one who administered Lani's oath.

There are also some officials who chose not to have their oath-taking at the same day as Marcos Jr. and instead opted to have it a day before.

Honey Lacuna, Manila Mayor

Former mayor Isko Moreno's right-hand woman, Honey Lacuna, is now taking the front seat as she took her oath of office as mayor of Manila.

Her oath of office was administered by her very own "boss" at the Manila Cathedral. She is also the first female mayor to serve the Philippines' capital city.

She dedicated her speech to her father, Danilo Lacuna Sr., who also served as vice mayor from 1998 to 2007.

“Dahil sa iyo, naging vice mayor din ako. Dahil sa iyo, ako’y nagsikap na matuldukan na ang matagal nang kasabihan na ang mga Lacuna ay pang-Vice Mayor lang. Sana kahit man lang sa isang saglit, kahit ngayong araw lang ay maging malinaw sa iyong isip na mayroon ka nang anak na mayor," Honey said.

In a Facebook post, Moreno wrote that he fully trusts Honey with leading Manila: "Buong-buo ang tiwala ko sa 'yo, Ate, na yakang-yaka mong ipagpatuloy ang mga inumpisahan nating pagbabago sa minamahal nating Lungsod ng Maynila. Sapagkat ang bawat proyekto at programa na ating ginawa sa nakalipas na tatlong taon para sa mga Manileño ay iyong alam at parte ka nito sa pagbuo."

Joy Belmonte, Quezon City mayor

After winning for the second time in the May 9 election, mayor Joy Belmonte took her oath of office as Quezon City's highest official, administered again by Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo. 

In her speech, Belmonte highlighted that her office will push for the participation of Quezon City residents in policy-making and formulation.

“Quezon City is likewise poised to be the nation’s capital for people’s participation and inclusive governance. Our Quezon City People’s Council will push for the right of every individual to participate in policy-formulation, hands-on implementation and vigilant oversight, regardless of age, gender or industry,” Belmonte said.

She also promised to continue pushing for LGBTQ+ rights and equality, citing the recent Pride March held at the Quezon Memorial Circle. “We will continue to pursue and celebrate acceptance, equality, inclusivity and diversity in our city," Belmonte said.

Geraldine Roman, Bataan First District Representative

The country's first transgender woman to be elected to Congress, Geraldine Roman, is still going to continue being Bataan's first district representative as she took her oath on Wednesday, June 29.

In a Facebook post, she called for unity among her fellow Bataan residents as they pursue a better community.

"Binabati ko po ang lahat ng bagong halal na lingkod bayan sa lalawigan ng Bataan na makakasama natin sa pagbibigay ng #SerbisyongMayPuso sa susunod na tatlong taon," Roman wrote. "Sama-sama po nating paglingkuran nang buong puso ang ating mga kababayan para sa isang mas maunlad na Bataan!"
