Interested in getting a scholarship opportunity in Taiwan?

The country's Ministry of Education (MOE) launched a scholarship program offering NT$440,000 (almost P800,000) to selected applicants.

This program will prioritize students from Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines in its initial phase this 2024

In order to attract more highly qualified overseas students with an industrial specialty, the MOE stated that the INTENSE Program aims to combine the resources of the government, business, and academia.

Success of previous scholarships like the International Program of Industry-Academia Collaboration (IPIAC), motivated the ministry to launch a new program. With 3,803 of its 4,963 graduates finding work in Taiwan, IPIAC had an average employment rate of 77%.

According to the Minister of Education Pan Wen-chung, the INTENSE Program offers NT$100,000 or P178, 984 per year scholarship for up to two years from the National Development Fund to eligible students.

Additionally, students will receive a living allowance of at least NT$10,000 or P17,898 per month from companies for a total of NT$440,000 or almost P800,000 for over two years.

However, scholars must commit to working in Taiwan for two years post-graduation.

The program begins in August with 2,301 students across 35 schools and 123 classes, covering STEM fields, finance, and semiconductors. Pan also stated that 197 companies partnered with the program.

You are eligible to apply for the INTENSE Program if:

  • Applicants who have completed the second and third year at universities in the Philippines, or bachelor’s degree holders (fresh graduates) are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants should have above-average academic performance in their university or college, as evidenced by class or department rankings.
