Award-winning racer and co-founder of DC Shoes Ken Block was killed at the age of 55 in a snowmobile accident.

One of Block's brands, Hoonigan Industries, as well as local authorities confirmed his death on Jan. 3.

"Ken was a visionary, a pioneer, and an icon. And most importantly, a father and husband. He will be incredibly missed," Hoonigan, the company behind the beloved Gymkhana video series, said in a statement.

According to the Wasatch County Sherriff's Office in Utah, Block was riding on a snowmobile at around 2 p.m. on a steep slope when his ride "upended and landed on top of him." He was with a group but was alone when the accident occurred. Block was pronounced dead at the scene.

Block is one of the most decorated racers of his time, earning X Games medals, race wins, and other podium finishes since starting in the scene in 2005. He later founded sportswear company DC Shoes and created the Gymkhana video series where he would drive on dangerous tracks and obstacle courses. In 2021, he entered a partnership with Audi to help develop electric cars.

Block is survived by his wife Lucy and three children.
