Alice Guo deported to PH after arrest in Indonesia
Dismissed Bamban mayor Alice Guo has been brought back to the Philippines after being nabbed by Indonesian officials.
Guo arrived at a private hangar in Pasay City on Sept. 6, 1:10 a.m. via a chartered flight and was accompanied by Philippine officials including DILG secretary Benhur Abalos and PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil.
The Philippine STAR shared photos of Guo taken when she was presented to the media after her arrival in the country.
She will be taken to Camp Crame in Quezon City to undergo booking procedures and physical and medical examinations.
"She will undergo a medical examination to ensure that she is in good condition before we turn her over to the Senate, which has issued an arrest warrant," said PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo during the press conference held on Thursday afternoon. The dismissed mayor will be held at the detention facility for the night.
Sen. Risa Hontiveros said that Guo will be brought to the Senate on Sept. 6.
Before her arrest, Guo frequently moved to different hotels in Indonesia, ABS-CBN News reported. In a video clip shared to Abalos' Facebook page, she can be heard seeking help from Abalos as she was receiving “death threats.”
Meanwhile, the Regional Trial Court branch 109 of Capas, Tarlac on Thursday issued a warrant of arrest against Guo in connection to the graft case filed against her by DILG. The agency's charges were over her reported involvement with a raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) in her bailiwick.
The DILG filed a case over Guo’s violation of Section 3(e) and 3(h) of Republic Act 3019, or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act. The bail is set at P90,000 each.
Her sister, Shiela Guo, and her alleged cohort Cassandra Li Ong were brought back to the Philippines two days after their arrest in a mall in Batam City, Indonesia on Aug. 20 and were taken to the Bureau of Immigration headquarters in Manila.
Guo also faces money laundering charges, a tax evasion case, and a human trafficking complaint, among others.
