Dog eats owners' cash worth P222,000

A dog in Pennsylvania ate $4,000 (P222,000) in cash, much to the shock of his owners and veterinarian.

The Guardian reported that Cecil, a seven-year-old Goldendoodle, is usually well-behaved, according to his owners, Clayton and Carrie Law.

But Cecil became a “bad boy” when he ate the cash on the Laws’ kitchen counter.

The Laws told The Washington Post that they withdrew the money from their joint savings account in a local bank. But little did they know that they’d be left with torn bits of bills 30 minutes later.

They reached out to Cecil’s veterinarian to see if he needed medical treatment but thankfully, given his size, he only needed to be monitored at home.

More importantly, the bank told the Laws that dog accidents are common. The bank said it would take back the chewed money as long as the serial numbers on the bills were visible.

The Laws worked on recovering the bills that Cecil didn’t chew and tried to piece together the damaged bills. They also got some of the cash that Cecil threw up and those that were in his poop.

"There we are at the utility sink. [We were] washing this sh*tty money, yelling 'Yay!  Yes! We got one!' It smelled so bad," Carrie told the Pittsburgh City Paper.

Ultimately, the couple lost only $450 (P25,000), leaving them with $3,550 (197,000).

The Laws shared a video of Cecil’s mischief on Instagram which has since gone viral.
