Man discovers wife is actually a man trying to scam him out of money

In the comedy cult classic White Chicks, the fan-favorite Latrell Spencer is shattered that Tiffany Wilson, the socialite he's trying so hard to woo, is actually FBI Agent Kevin Copeland in disguise. Well, a man had quite a similar experience, except that he dated the person for over a year and reached 12 days into marriage—and found that the person is attempting to scam him out of money.

The South China Morning Post reported that the Indonesian man, identified as AK, 26, met Adinda Kanza, 26, on social media in 2023. They soon met in person, though AK said Kanza always wore traditional Muslim attire covering the face when they met, claiming to be a devout Muslim.

They eventually planned to get married, but Kanza claimed to have no family to attend their wedding. Kanza even brought five grams of gold as dowry, though they didn't officially register their marriage certificate.

They got married last April.

According to SCMP, AK grew suspicious when Kanza refused to communicate with his family and continue wearing veiled attire at home. Kanza also constantly made excuses to avoid intimacy with AK, claiming to be unwell and having menstrual cycle issues.

He eventually found that Kanza is actually a man, identified as ESH, who had been cross-dressing since 2020.

ESH's parents were unaware of AK as their supposed son-in-law, much less his relationship with ESH.

The police took note how ESH resembled a woman especially while in makeup and especially since his voice "is somewhat high-pitched." They also speculated that though ESH has dated women, he might have enjoyed impersonating a woman while dating men, SCMP reported.

ESH has been arrested and detained. He's facing fraud charges and could face up to four years in prison.
