A shift in focus marks a new era for Sky Cable.

Sky Cable, the local cable television and broadband arm of ABS-CBN, is signing off on February 26.

Following its acquisition by PLDT, Sky Cable will be focusing on providing internet services, it said in an announcement sent to subscribers on Friday.

"With this deal, the final broadcast and sign-off of SKYcable will be on February 26, 2024 at 11:59 p.m.," it said.

It told SKY Fiber subscribers that can still "continue to enjoy the same fiber-fast internet service at the same monthly fees."

SKYcable subscribers, on the other hand, are given a list of providers available in their area should they wish to "explore your options to continue with a pay TV service." They will also no longer be billed beginning Jan. 26, 2024, "including all main and additional outlets, as well as any add-on services such as ala carte channels and packs, pay-per-view, and streaming services like HBO Go."

ANC Channels, they said via an inquiry on Facebook, "will still be available" on streaming platforms like YouTube.

Those with SKY Bundles will be converted to a SKY Fiber plan, which they could choose via fibroptin.mysky.com.ph.

Sky Cable said that it remains committed to providing assistance and service to its subscribers.

"As we go through these changes, providing assistance and service to you will remain our top priority. Our sincerest thanks to you, our dearest subscribers," it said on its website.

On March 16, 2023, PLDT announced that it had entered into a sale and purchase agreement to acquire 100 percent of Sky Cable Corporation for P6.75 billion.

The Philippine Competition Commission in January 2024 allowed the sale of 100 percent of Sky Cable's business to PLDT Inc.

ABS-CBN said it will "disclose material information to update the disclosure made to the exchange on March 16, 2023 once they become available.”

Sky Cable started operating in the Philippines in January 1992. It is the flagship brand of Sky which operates cable television.
