'In the midst of two rocks'
Sharon Cuneta opens up about being torn between husband Kiko Pangilinan and uncle Tito Sotto as both vie for the vice presidency
Actress and TV host Sharon Cuneta opened up on Instagram about how she finds herself being caught between a rock and a hard place due to the 2022 national elections.
Cuneta's husband, Sen. Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan, and her uncle, Vicente "Tito" Sotto III, are both running for vice president.
"Two men I greatly love—one whom I have known since birth, and the other, one I exchanged solemn vows with 25 years ago, are about to vie for the second highest position in the country, and once again, I do not know what I could have done so wrong to find myself in the midst of two rocks," the actress wrote.
The "Megastar" married Pangilinan in 1996 and has two daughters and one adopted son with him.
Meanwhile, Sotto is married to Cuneta's aunt, Helen Gamboa, who helped start her career in music as her producer at Vicor Records.
The 55-year-old actress continued to lament about how politics has affected her family and how this has placed them in a difficult position.
"I pray that after this game called politics is over, that wounds are healed, loved ones do not doubt your love for them, and I and my sisters, especially, the only family I have left besides my own, find our way back to one another’s arms, unscathed and free of the pain our battle scars have brought us."
Cuneta added another post to her feed expressing distraught, which says, "The sad thing is, nobody ever really knows how much anyone else is hurting."
Pangilinan filed his certificate of candidacy as Vice President Leni Robredo's running mate on Oct. 8. He has said during a joint press briefing with Robredo that deciding to run was indeed difficult for his wife at the start.
"Siguro dahil mahal na mahal ni Sharon si Ma'am Leni, nakita niya 'yung kahalagahan na tulungan at magtulungan para nga mahanapan ng solusyon 'yung problema ng bansa," said Pangilinan.
Sharon has also showed support for Robredo on Instagram, sharing campaign materials during the presidential aspirant's announcement and wearing pink on Oct. 7.
