Catherine Camilon was allegedly abused by lover cop, suggests new evidence
Police are looking into new evidence in Catherine Camilon's case after discovering 17 strands of hair, blood samples, and screenshots of messages that reveal the beauty queen was being abused by her alleged lover, now suspect Police Major Allan De Castro.
According to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), as reported by TV Patrol, police recovered the evidence inside the abandoned red SUV in Dumuclay, Batangas. However, they weren't able to get any fingerprints as it could be possible that the car was already cleaned.
The CIDG is hoping to begin with the profiling as soon as Camilon's family gives a DNA sample.
Chief inspector Colonel Jacinto Malinao said on Tuesday, Nov. 14 that they also received evidence, including screenshots of conversations between the Miss Grand Philippines 2023 candidate and a friend, where the former asserted she was being subjected to abuse.
"Sa exchange of message between Cath at ng kaibigan niya, minsan ay nasaktan itong si Catherine at pangalawa, medyo ikinagalit yata na nagsumbong itong si Catherin sa asawa ng suspek natin itong si Major Allan De Castro na sinabihan ng biktima na may babae ito," Malinao told Teleradyo Serbisyo.
He added that Camilon would go home with bruises whenever De Castro was drunk.
"Pag nalalasing ay nasasaktan itong si Cath, minsan umuwi ito na may pasa. Yun ang nakikitang pinakamalapit na motive what prompted this incident," he said.
According to the report, Camilon was reportedly planning to end her relationship with De Castro before her disappearance. She was also supposed to meet with him on the day she went missing.
Previously, Camilon's mother, Rosario, claimed that her daughter was not romantically involved with anyone and did not have any enemies.
But Malinao said that Rosario and the beauty queen's sister Chin Chin retracted their previous statements, providing evidence to support.
“Base sa statement ng nanay ito (De Castro), ang katatagpuin ni Catherine, yung allegedly boyfriend na si Major Allan De Castro,” Malinao told Radyo 630.
The CIDG has already filed complaints against De Castro and three others for kidnapping and serious illegal detention.
De Castro has previously denied the accusations, saying he doesn't know anything.
Camilon was last seen alive at a mall in Lemery town last October 12. She called her family to say she was in Bauan and was going to a meeting in Batangas City.
