Two beaches in the Philippines have been recognized as the world's best beaches.

Entalula Beach in El Nido, Palawan ranked fourth in this year's World's 50 Best Beaches ranking, while Bonbon in Romblon placed in 45th place.

The title of no. 1 best beach in the world goes to Trunk Bay in the US Virgin Islands, with Cala Mariolu in Italy following in second place. Meads Bay in Anguilla and Voutoumi Beach in Greece round out the top 5.

Entalula Beach, described as "Palawan’s overlooked slice of heaven," was best praised for its astonishing limestone cliffs which serve as a breathtaking background to its white sandy shores.

Due to the beach’s concealed geographic location, it seldom has visitors resulting in preserving the natural beauty of the body of water compared to other islands and beaches surrounding Palawan.

Visitors can enjoy and discover alluring coral reefs with clear water making it an ideal spot for snorkeling.

The list also praised the beach's "striking natural features and tranquil atmosphere" making it a go-to spot for some quality rest and relaxation.

Meanwhile, Bonbon Beach was admired for its fine white sands and crystal-clear water. This "laid-back undeveloped paradise" also has a natural sandbar stretching out to the island of Bangug.

Like Entalula, this Romblon beach offers a quiet retreat over tourist-heavy spots as it does not get too crowded.

The World’s Best 50 Beaches list has experienced travel professionals voting for their top beach picks. According to the list's website, they do not have any specific criteria for said beaches but they do ask the experts why they think these places are the best.

In addition to the votes, the organization teamed up with "beach Ambassadors" to review the submissions and then compile a list based on specific criteria: unique, wildlife, untouched, soundtrack of nature, easy to enter, often calm water, not too crowded, and frequently idyllic.
