Rivermaya reunion concert in February 2024? Live Nation drop hints
Is Rivermaya reunion concert finally happening in 2024?
On Oct. 31, concert organizer Live Nation Philippines dropped a teaser clip on their social media pages of an upcoming event which will be held on February 17, 2024.
The clip contained four blurry portraits of four men, a concert crowd, and their blurry group photo nearing the end before flashing, “Soon. 02.17.2024.”
Eagle-eyed fans immediately recognized the people on the clip were Bamboo Mañalac, Rico Blanco, Mark Escueta, and Nathan Azarcon—original members of Rivermaya. It prompted guesses that it may be the much-awaited reunion of the beloved 90s Pinoy band.
The four, with Perf de Castro, were among the biggest bands in the 90s, after making a debut in 1994 with a self-titled album.
Perf left the band in 1995, while Bamboo left in 1998. Rico also decided to leave the group in 2007. The band is still active up to this date, with Mark and Nathan as the remaining original members and their longest-serving guitarist Mike Elgar.
In March this year, Bamboo also hinted that he is open to the possibility of a reunion with the group.
“I will never say never. But I cannot imagine how. We can hang out in the house or have dinner, but to play again?” he previously told ABS-CBN News.
Rivermaya is known for its classic hits 214, Kisapmata, Elesi, Ulan, and Himala, among others.
